5 Tips for Making a Koi Pond Gorgeous
Koi ponds add a beautiful and tranquil touch to a well-landscaped property. They often feature large rocks and waterfalls or are surrounded by tall grass. Beautifying your koi pond may be simpler and less expensive than you might think, and you’ll soon be on your way to a tranquil space that looks like it came right out of a magazine. If you’re looking for a new way to make your koi pond stand out or just need a little inspiration for how to make it more aesthetically pleasing, take a look at the following five tips.
1. Make It into a Water Garden
Add some lily pads to your koi pond to give it a true water garden feel. In addition to lily pads, succulents are also a great touch. Add some around the perimeter of your pond to frame it. Use a few different kinds of succulents in a variety of hues to expand your color scheme and bring the pond together beautifully.
2. Build a Wooden Bridge
A wooden bridge can make a koi pond feel inviting. By adding a small wooden bridge over or next to your pond, you can tie all of your landscaping efforts together. A bridge makes for an inviting spot to hang out during a backyard gathering, and it’s great for pictures. If a bridge isn’t your style, try adding a flat wooden platform with a bistro table and chairs.
3. Place Stepping Stones Nearby
This is a simple step, but it can make a huge difference in the appearance of your koi pond. Simply add some flat stepping stones around or leading up to your koi pond for an inviting feel. Stepping stones come in various shapes and sizes. Don’t be afraid to get creative. You can even break the stones apart before placing them on the ground for a more abstract feel.
4. Add a Pop of Color
Adding pebbles or stones to the inside of your pond is also a great way to beautify it. Pebbles come in various shapes, colors, and sizes, so you can be creative and choose what will tie in best with your landscaping. Just make sure the stones have rounded edges so you don’t puncture the pond liner or harm your koi. Flat, larger stones work best. Before choosing pebbles for your koi pond, make sure they’re safe for your koi. You can also add pebbles to the outside of your pond. If you live close to a beach and are tempted to collect some sea shells and use them in your pond, don’t. Sea shells can elevate the hardness in the water that koi don’t like. Ask the experts at Aquatic Warehouse, where you can buy all of the necessary koi pond supplies, for advice if you aren’t sure which pebbles or shells are safe for your fish.
5. Light It Up
There are many ways you can make your koi pond stand out by adding lights. You can add spotlights that shine down onto the water or out onto the stones surrounding the pond. There are also many different types of floating lights you can purchase for your pond.
